A message was sent out to all Senators marked urgent.

From the Office of His Excellency the Supreme Chancellor Josefus Quick to all Senators of the Imperial Republic Galactic Senate,

Emergency Meeting at the Coruscant Senate Building in the Grand Hall at 1100 hours this morning. All senators are encouraged to attend. This meeting has been called by the Supreme Ruler and Executor Solo-Katarn to inform you of some important events about to transpire and some changes of command.

The Senate meeting began, and the Supreme Chancellor called the meeting to order.

"Honorable Representatives,

It is with great honor that I have the privilge to yield the floor to His Majesty the Supreme Ruler of the Imperial Republic, High Prince James Stratus. Your Highness," he motioned for the High Prince, who was already at the main center podium with Executor Solo-Katarn and Councilor Ieyena Cohean at his sides, and other members of the High Council on a special adjoining platform, signifying this news came from and was supported by the High Council.

The High Prince stepped up to the main podium, his voice booming over the loudspeakers and translators, for all to hear, as well as a special voice Force-enhancement.

"Senators and representatives of the Imperial Republic,

I come before you this day to announce some key changes in the area of senior government officials. It is with regret that I announce the retirement of Lord Admiral Eric Jackson from active military service, and resignation from his position as Second Executor of the Imperial Republic. The Executor and his family has served us for many years, and we will miss them," he paused, for a brief moment.

"Second, I would like to announce the appointment of a new Second Executor, to take his place. This person has served alongside Executor Solo-Katarn and myself since the foundation of the Imperial Republic, and has proven her loyalty and dedication time and again. I present to you, Executor Ieyena Cohean, Second Executor of the Imperial Republic, second only to myself and the First Executor." He motioned for the new Executor to step into view of the spotlight for all to see, and there was a huge applause.

"Finally, I would like to make known among the people of the galaxy that I will be taking an extended leave of absence from the Royal Imperial Throne, and from active duty in the Imperial Republic. I will be away for a while, and out of contact. I will not disclose the details of the nature of this absence nor anything further on that issue. I will, however, have you all know that I shall return. I will be back, and I will resume my command, my position, and my authority in the Imperial Republic upon my return, make no mistake about that. In my absence, my right hand, Layha Solo-Katarn, First Executor of the Imperial Republic, shall be granted the title of Dowager Empress in my absence and until my return, and shall rule in my stead, with my full authority. Assisting her at her side will be Executor Cohean and the rest of the High Council as presently noted, and shall have full power over appointments and removal of all personnel and officials. A changing of the guard ceremony will be held immediately following Executor Solo-Katarn's address to the senate." He paused for a moment, then turned to the Supreme Chancellor.

"Mr. President, with your consent, I would like to now yield the floor to Executor Layha Solo-Katarn, First Executor of the Imperial Republic."

The Supreme Chancellor nodded, and the High Prince then nodded to Layha.

It had always amazed Ieyena on how fast the order of the galaxy changed. Twenty-four hours ago if some one had asked her wither or not she would ever be assuming a position again she would have told them that it was very unlikely. But now here she stood being presented to the entire galaxy as the new Executor. Someone had once told her that often times the best leaders are the ones who would rather support another capable leader and not seek for power, but these sort of people never gained office, she now knew just how wrong they had been. She would have never sought this position, but when she had been confronted by Jim and Layha she had known that it was her responsibility. And so she would put everything she had into this new calling.

Layha gave a slight nod to the High Prince as she moved to take the floor....
She took a deep breath, what she was about to do would change her life forever. This decision that she had made had not been easy, yet it had been the best political move she had ever made. She sent a smile, thought wise, to Jim, then she turned to face the Senate.

"Ladies and Gentlmen of the Senate, Supreme Chacellor, and your Majesty, it is with great honor that I humble accept the office in which you have bestowed upon me. I will greatly miss the presence and guidance of our High Prince. I am willing and able to assume all obligations and duties that are outlined in my new position. I do hereby promise to decicate my time and skills completely to the bettering of the Imperial Rebuplic. Upon the return of High Prince James Stratus I do solemnly swear to step down from the office of Dowager Empress and reclaim my postition as First Executor of the Imperial Republic."

After the Executor was done speaking at the senate session, the High Prince took his position at the center of the podium, not facing the audience, but instead facing Executor Layha Solo-Katarn, she facing him across from him. The High Prince's voice boomed for all to hear, with an echo of authority. "And now, for the Changing of the Guard Ceremony." The High Prince and Executor took their positions as if they were changing guards. The High Prince cleared his throat, his voice booming loudly. "Dowager Empress! The Imperial Republic, is at your command!" The High Prince then saluted the Dowager Empress smartly, she returning his salute. He then spun on his heal, and excited through a passageway, heading straight to his hangar where he would be departing in the Dwan Treader. There his friends would meet him to say their good-byes.
