The Advocatus and her flotilla had been on an extended deployment around the Outer Rim. Her captain had been very successful in doing recon missions and intercepting IR convoys. He had been fortunate enough not to run into major IR Navy formations. In part it was due to luck and in part because the main fleet had been busy lauching quick strikes at different points of the Galaxy, keeping the so called IR Navy busy. It was all part of the plan of Admiral Bel Jones to stretch the enemy too thin in order to move to the next level: invasion.

One of the advantages they had on their side was the fact that the IR Navy had not been able to locate their base: Reducto. That fact had allowed them for keeping a sanctuary for the ships in their fleet and give their crews the needed R&R time while their ships were repaired.

But now the signal had been sent that all ships needed to return to Reducto in order to get prepped to launch the first major offensive in the war: the invasion of Sluis Van.

Inside the ISD Legend of the Empire, Admiral Bel Jones was in his office, reviewing tha last reports he had received. The progress of his Fleet was very good. All supplies were loaded for those ships that had arrived already. There was a group of 20 ISDs and support ships that were yet to arrive. But they had reported their ETAs already and despite being a little late, they would not compromise the operation.

He watched across the transparisteel window on his office. From the current position of the Legend, he could watch the numbers of his Fleet. Despite being old models compares to those of the rebels, he had the advantage of knowing where they would be, whereas the so called IR Navy did not have the least idea of where they were assembled. That had been a fundamental part of their strategy.

Of course, after several decades of lack of use, they had to work on the installations in order to make them fully operational again. Fortunately enough, enough safeguards were introduced the last time they had been there that the work was minimized. The defense system, on the other hand, was preserved due to alternative energy sources, which was the main reason that Reducto had not been found in all the time since the fall of Empire to the hands of these rebels. As they were the only ones with the authentication codes to enter the area, they found the installation pretty much the same as they had left it when they started their journey beyond the boundaries of the Galaxy.

Several thousand light years from there, the Avenger and her Line were in Kuat for a resupply of their spare parts and food. The campaign had been long so far and pretty tiring. A lot of battles had been fought, but none of them were a definite stand by the enemy. They kept on their strike and run tactis, which made if difficult for the IR Navy to send a devastating attack. As they arrived completely by surprise, there was almost no time to set the Sovereign Class Interdictors in position to prevent them from leaving the battlefield, and that when there were Sovereigns in the vicinity.

Despite all that, the IR Navy managed to destroy about a dozen ISDs and support ships, but the enemy fleet remained pretty much intact. On the other hand, the ships of the 1AF and the MoD Fleet were mostly damaged, and only a handful were destroyed. Installations were indeed destroyed and escort ships for convoys were also destroyed by the hit and run attacks.

There had been several attempts to infiltrate the enemy, but so far it turned out impossible. They did not get off their ships in any known place, unless they were boarding freighters. They had not visited any planet, at least not any known one. And the most of the few pilots that they had left behind in damaged ships committed suicide before being caught.

As Admiral OVERMIND was checking on the last reports, he noticed that most of the ships would be ready for deployment within the next 12 hours. However, a couple of reports were missing. Therefore, he contacted his aide and instructed him:

"Captain, ask the Triton and the Pegasus to send their reports about their readiness for deployment. Also, contact General Cognatus. I want to hear his report on how things are in Coruscant."

"Yes, sir. It will be done immediately."

[Corran Halcyon]

Commander Halcyon was in his office aboard his new ship Triton. His comm terminal blinked.
"Yes."
"Sir, Admrial OVERMIND wants a status report."
"Ok, I'll start the report now."

Halcyon keyed off the comm. He looked at the status of the ship. Everything looked good. He sent a report to Admrial OVERMIND saying that that everything was good to go.

"Sir - the Admiral's aide informed him soon - the Triton has just sent their report. They inform that they are ready to depart.

"That is so? Open a channel to the Triton."

A couple of seconds later, the channel was up.

"Commander Halcyon, I see that your crew has already finished their preparation and they are ready to go. Congratulations on your excellent response time. Perhaps you can entertain them performing some drills and some fighter manuevers. The rest of the Fleet will be ready to depart within 12 hours. Until then, we just have to kill time."

[Corran Halcyon]

"Thank you, Sir. I believe I will start some drills."

[Khyron Overmind]

"Good. While you are at it, you can scout the edge of the system just in case. We do want to be ready in case the enemy decides to show up. Avenger out."

Then he Admiral checked with his aide if General Cognatus had already reported, but unfortunately there were no news from him yet.

As he was waiting for General Cognatus to contact him, he checked the reports of Vice Admiral Kelly. The 1AF seemed ready as there was little activity around their ships, but he had not received the latest report indicating their readiness. He asked his aide to request the latest report from Admiral Kelly.

[Dene Vye Cognatus]

Major General Dene Cognatus sat at his desk on Coruscant, wondering if he would ever go back to seeing action, ever since the reformation of the Government Dene lost most of his will to serve, being charged with a desk pushing job. He scoffed under his breath.

"Sir, Admiral OVERMIND has requested an report on the military." His younger aide, a mid age Major. "Thank you, your dismissed." Dene returned the mans salute and went over to file a datapad report to the Admiral.

Commander Halcyon was on the bridge of his ship. "Attention all personal, we will be running drills with in the next twelve of hours. No warnings will be given. Treat this as you would a real situation. Thank you." With that he returned to his office. To get ready for the first drill. A little over an hour later he was ready.

"RED ALERT, All personal to there stations. Fighter control launch squadrons Hunter, Blade, and Corsair."
Commder Halcyon watched as his crew scurried to their stations.
"Situation Report" Barked Halcyon
"Sir, sensors picked up a frigate, and two figher sqaudrons."
"Lt. Fel get those fighters in the air and start to attack their fighters."
"Weapons control, target the frigate with turbolasers and ion cannons, use the point-defense lasers if those fighters come to close, but watch out for our fighters."
"Yes Sir" the weapons control officer said.

You heard the boss men! move it!!

Jacen Fel, grandson of Jagged Fel who was son of Baron Fel, also known as the best fighter pilot in the empire.. Jacen had allot to prove to himself.. yes to himself, not to others..

Jacen,wearing his unique black jump suite with IR insignia, jumps into his EID Eagle "Razorback" and departs with the rest of the ships fighters..

OK, squadron two and three move to the left. Squadron four and five more to the right.. rest of the unit follow me on the center.. squadron seven and eight take out their bombers.. the rest take those fighters out

Tritons fighers made short work of the enemy fighters. And the frigate was no match for the Triton. Commander Halcyon recalled his fighters and went in to debrief. For the next couple of hours there were no more drills, but Corran kept his eye on the long range scaners. Watching to see if there was anyone hiding from the fleet.

"Sir, it seems that Commander Halcyon's ship has run into some enemy ships" reported the aide.

"Ask for a full report."

"Immediately sir."

A moment later, the aide sent the proper message to the Triton.

OCC. this was only a drill. do u still want a report?

Requiem Squadron finished up the mock battle and returned to the hangar to rearm, refuel, and wait. Requiem was on call as there call as Commander Halcyon could begin another drill anytime.

They did well. Much better than I would have hoped with my being put in command of Requiem just over a week ago. I just hope they can perform just as well if not better in a real battle. Lt. Vega thought as he disembarked his Falcon.

Things were uneventful over the next few hours. He decided to pass the time by getting some water and getting to know some of the people under his command better as well as offering some critiques.

Jacen walked of his fighter after finishing the enemy.. those were old busted ships, lets just hope that the rest of the enemy is like that and we will have and easy job.. but lets wait for the worse

Jacen then went to corran and said,

(OOC: it started as a drill, but it is difficult to engage with the enemy in a drill, so I imagined it to be legit. But if it was a drill, leave it as that).

(OCC yes it was a drill. The way I figured it was that from the Triton there was a "holographic" type imagine on the sensors. So we were firing real lasers and stuff but there was nothing there.)

"Captain, still no news from General Cognatus?" asked the Admiral.

"An incomplete message arrived sir. I have requested for a new sending."

"Let's hope they send it again before we leave."

"Yes sir."

The Admiral looked at the hour. There were still 4 full hours before their projected departure. He could use some rest, since it had been more than 30 hours since the last time he had slept. However, there would be plenty of time to sleep when they were in hyperspace. In the meantime, he continued going over the reports to make sure everything was covered.

Finally, the hours were down to minutes and the Fleet was ready to depart back to the Outer Rim. The first jump would take them 8 hours until they would need to change course. Navigation in the Core worlds make it difficult to plot a direct course and several changes in course were needed to stay out of the navigational fields of the numerous stars.

As usual, the Admiral was in the bridge of the Avenger, monitoring the departure of the fleets. Every possible precaution had been taken. All preparations were made in the available time but there was always the feeling that there was something else that could be done. It was unavoidable to review all things to make sure everything was ok.

"Send the message to the Fleet. We will depart in 30 seconds" ordered the Admiral.

"Immediately sir."

When the timer reached zero, the Avenger accelerated to full speed to break the gravitational field of Kuat. All around the orbit of the planet, the other ships of the MoD and the 1AF Fleets acccelerated and adopted their battle formation. It would take them 5 minutes to reach the jump point, which was more than enough time to reach their positions.

Once they reached the jump point, the ships engaged their hyperdrives, starting from the Avenger and going to the ships that were behind her. The dots that represented the starts in the background stretched until they become lines and they were in hyperspace.

Knowing that they were on their way, the Admiral returned to his quarters. It was finally time to sleep.

Jacen felt the hyperspace softer then notmal.

Walking toward his bunk Jacen felt exausted after a hard day of work, "well good thing we have like seven hours left, i guess it wont hurt anyone if i take a nap" and as soon as he put his head on the pillow he fell into a deep sleep.

Down!!! suddenly jacen opened his eyes and watched all the concrete and the twisted metal every where of the office building that was behind him a while ago "Jacen, Jacen" He could bearly hear his name being said but could not identify the source of it anywhere. An enemy fighter passed over him high in the sky leaving only destruction behind. Jacen raised his head seeking for his time of 12 soldiers, but was unable to find any of them. He raised from the floor picking up his rifle that was at his side and started running for his life towards the area they had designated as the advanced HQ.. but he found nothing but smoke and rubble..

The hours later Jacen abruptly woke up of his dream, all sweety and his heart pounding his head.. Never forget why you joined Imperial Republic, Jacen said to himself.. He will never, and he wont rest until the day he finishes off all rebel, pirate, and criminal from the galaxy.

Alex was talking to one of his wingmates as he walked down the hallway. They were coming up on Lt. Fells room.

....So it really wasn't your fault back then.
No. I was accidently framed then and the IR found the real culprit a few years back. The rest is top secret.
Sir, then would you forgive my opinion of you.
Of course. I also wanted to commend you on your skills in the drill and I also wanted to thank you for not bringing any of the information on my past to light. Touchy things as this could easily divide and destroy the team.
His wingmate took a look at his watch. Sorry Lt., I have to meet a friend for a talk. Talk to you later Lt. Straussenberg.....[b]Vega, I prefer Lt. Veg[/b]...Yes sir Lt. Vega.

They both saluted and parted ways. Alex shook his head and chuckled This is going to be better than I thought He was shaken out of his thoughts when he heard a stifled scream come from Fells room.

That's weird Alex knocked on the door.

Jacen was feeling allot better now and he had just got out the refreshner.. he sat in his bed with some khaki pants and a white tank top.. This is going to be a large flight.. suddenly jacen hears someone knock.

Alex walked in...

Lt. Alex Vega of Requiem Falcon Squadron, sir. Alex said after he had saluted. Better make a good appearance so they have nothing to blame me with...even if it is overboard.

He took a quick look around the room and noticed the furnishings to be simple but still have a touch of mando. He took a quick look at Fel and noticed that he had just gotten out of the refresher. He also noticed that his eyes gave off the hint of Fel being through the ringer. This was the first time he had met Fel up close and personal. He had seen him around the frigate and said hi once or twice. He noticed that he was of good build and good muscular qualtiy. Alex took note not to take him in a fist fight.

I heard a muffled scream and wanted to see if everything was alright.

Ohh, thats ok lieutenant, its ok.. just have a rough night.. tell me hows the preparation for the war coming?

he looked at vega in his pilot uniform.. maybe he was doing flight training, he might be the one wing mate that i need.. i will have to test his as a pilot and a team mate..

Preparation's for war seem to be coming along sir. There have been no more drills. He checked his watch and we have a little over 30 minutes until departure.


Alex noticed Fel sizing him up. I better go...Is there anything else sir? Alex asked with a low voice. Can I get you anything?

Jacen looks at the hand of the soldier and he gave his own, i guess you must be new, remember soldiers in the navy we salute.. and thats ok trooper ill be alright, you can leave now.. there is something about this one,, ill have to keep an eye on him a little bit longer.. Jacen then brings up his datapad, with Commander Halcyon please

Commander Halcyon was sitting at his desk. "Well we are about to leave." He thought to himself. "I guess it's time to get to know my crew a little better".


"Attention all pilots. This is Commander Halcyon, in 20 minutes I will be holding a meeting in the conference room, all pilots need to attend. Thank You."

Jacen heard the announcement and he put his jumpsuit and got ready to leave.. once ready he left to the conference room..

Lieutenant Jacen Fel reporting for duty sir.. said him just as he arrived the room.. he knew he was early and he was going to wait for the others

Alex arrived in the room a few minutes later and sat next to Rec (Requiem) 3. He noticed as he sat down that they were a few rows back from where Fel and his squad was sitting. Alex and 3 were engaged in conversation as people trickled into the room. Soon all Member of his Squadron were present and accounted for. Over the next few minutes they got into a debate (friendly of course) on who was a better pilot. They had a few laughs and remarks.

Before they were able to finish the friendly debate, Commander Corran Halycon stood up and began to speak

Rec 10 quietly whispered We'll finish this later.

"Greetings to all. As you all know my name is Commander Corran Halcyon. Since I am the commanding officer on this ship, it is my job to make sure all of your needs are met. If you have any problems, please feel free to stop by my office and I will assist you the best I can. Also being your commanding officer I need to have respect from all of you. This is a military warship and we are at war. I am a fairly laid back person, but when I give an order I want it to be done completly and quickly. Lt. Jacen Fel is your commanding officer, you will also respect him as you would me. If you have a problem you should go to him first. Well I think I've spoke enough. If you have any questions, you may come up and talk to me, if you don't then there are refreshment in the next room. You all are dismissed."

Just as soon as the commander said "You all are dismissed" Jacen raised from his seat and said in a strong voice.. Officer leaving the deck! and all the pilots raised themselves in and saluted the Commander Halcyon.. If this ship was going to distinguish themselves in the Imperial navy it would be because of discipline and love for the republic

Commander Halcyon returned the salute. "hmmm maybe we might get somewhere with these guys" he said to himself.

Alex went and picked up some refreshments. And silently sat down in a nearby chair. As he chewed slowly he listened to the nearby conversations. Some were talking about their fighting skills, some about starfighting skill, and the list went on. Alex surveyed the room and noticed that his squad was engrossed in their little debate again. Some other members were talking to others in the room. One was talking to Commander Halcyon himself. Alex then internally slapped himself as he realized he was acting like he was undercover and on the run.

What am I doing sitting here. I'm in the midst of friends and fellow soldiers. It's going to take a while to break this habit. Alex stood and began to walk over to where his squadron to engage in conversation. I have to break this habit somehow.
