As he turned from the magnificent view of Coruscant, Revan was greeted by one of the royal guards. "What is it?"
"Message from one of our advance readiness units."
Revan grumbled slightly, knowing that the message was likely a very simple status update that had little bearing on anything. Still, the ARUs that had recently been instituted amongst the Royal Guard certainly had served an important purpose during the trials and tribulations of the recent past. So much had been accomplished...so many organizations swept away...so many good men and women lost. Perhaps it was one of the very few reasons that he committed so much of his being to this job. That and the fact that he knew how important it was to have a father you could look up to. After all, Revan never really had that. In fact, the closest thing to a father to him had attempted to kill him not more than six years ago. Revan never wanted to but Jayden in that position. "Very well, anything critical or are things progressing as usual?"
"Status is normal sir. I've had specifics routed to your datapad should you choose to glance at the full report later."
Revan nodded to the Protector. "Very well, thank you." Nothing else was said as the royal guard fell into step behind Revan. Once he had exited his quarters, he was joined by another royal guard. In silence, the three individuals walked the short distance to a private lift which would access Layha's quarters within the palace directly. Once they had indeed arrived, Revan motioned for the guards to wait by the lift. Walking down the long corridor, Revan arrived at the door leading inside Layha's quarters and knocked twice. "Layha...are you seriously still not ready." Revan smirked slightly to himself, but it was a nervous smirk. In an attempt to distract himself, he briefly ran a finger over the object in his right pocket.

Layha peeked around the corner and scowled. "What kind of question is that?" She moved back behind the wall and waved away her handmaidens. Her hair was half up in a elaborate Hapan twist and the other half was half curled half straight... not nearly finished. She was still dressed in a bath garment as she came closer to Revan. "Getting ready takes time." she shrugged. "Besides I never get this dressed up. So shut up and enjoy it." She gave him a sly smile and her eyes twinkled with mischief. She walked past him and into the kitchen area, her handmaidens with brushed and curlers right behind her. A moment later she walked back past Revan and back into the powder room where her handmaidens leaped to complete her hair. "Be useful Revan and go check on Andur. He looked quite nervous the last time I saw him. Make sure he has something nice on."

"Be useful Revan and go check on Andur. He looked quite nervous the last time I saw him. Make sure he has something nice on."
Revan gave Layha a look before laughing slightly and shaking his head. "I'm sure he is capable of dressing himself." Revan really did not want to go and 'check' on a kid that wasn't even his. Mothers... Seeing the look on Layha's face, Revan merely raised his hands in defeat. "Alright, alright - I'm going." Turning, Revan exited Layha's quarters and made his way a short distance down the corridor to where Andur stayed in the palace. He knocked briefly before he heard Andur permit him entrance. Stepping inside, Revan glanced at the young man. "Layha wanted me to check on you. First time to one of these?" Revan and Andur didn't have...much of a relationship. They were pleasant with each other, but Revan always had the somewhat sneaking suspicion that Andur resented him for being with his mother. It didn't bother him that much, he was just sure to treat Andur as he did any other civil person.

Alex was in his "office" with his feet propped up on a desk that he had reading the daily holonet news. Interesting...there is a big fancy dinner for the big wigs in a few days. I haven't gotten an invite yet thankfully...so I guess I won't be attending. Alex mumbled. He was not fond of big groups as there would most likely be someone there that held a grudge. There was a knock on his door
Come in Alex said as he took his feet off the desk as one of his wingmates came in.
Sir..did you hear about that big dinner that they're having in a few days
Alex cleared his throat
Sorry sire the man saluted.
Although I have a more relaxed policy with those in my squadron, I still do have guidlines. Alex returned the salute. Now what did you want to say...and yes, you have permission to speak freely.
ABout that dinner...are you going to go?
No.
You should.
I have not gotten an invite and I enjoy the quiet here. Besides, you know how much I enjoy large groups. he added sarcastically And don't push it.
Yes sir. Alex's wingmate turned to leave You know you'll be missing out.
At least I won't be court martialed Alex said under his breathe Aw...crud he said a bit too loudly as he checked his mail
"Dear Sir or Madam,.........."
There was a laugh outside his door.
----the present-----
Alex stepped out of the hover car and breathed in deeply and let out a sigh of annoyance. He was dressed in a highly expensive black tuxedo with a royal blue vest and tie. It had been handed down to him and it had been ages since he wore the thing. Needless to say...he was not a big fan of dressing up. He briskly walked into the place where the state ball was going to be held. Once inside he was shown to the specific place it was to be held and he entered. Once inside he put on his best social smile that he had used many times undercover and subtlely looked for a corner to conquer.

Revan remained silent through Layha and Andur's exchange. When Rhowen entered, he afforded the woman a brief, almost imperceptible nod of the head. As the small group began walking down the corridor, Revan stopped somewhat abruptly and looked from Layha to the others. "I'm sorry I... I need a moment alone with Layha if you two don't mind." Revan didn't expect Andur would have an issue. If Rhowen did, well he wouldn't be surprised, but he really did not care.

"I love you for who you really are, Layha. Not who people think you are, and I understand the implications that come along with that more than anyone else." Reaching into one of the pockets of his suit, Revan removed a small black box wrapped in a silver bow. Placing it in Layha's hand, Revan came to his feet and leaned in close to her. "Will you give me your hand in marriage, Layha Solo?" It was a modest proposal, but he saw no reason to be flashy. She either knew how much he cared for her...or she did not.

Waving a waitress over he ordered a hapan ice water and took in the ballroom view.
"I see we are waiting once more." He chuckled to himself as he waited for the Empress to enter.

He self consiously straitened his bowtie.
Would you like anything to drink sir?
He looked up in suprise and saw a waitress in a beautiful green dress. He thought quickly.
What are your recommendations on a beverage that is non-alchoholic? Alex gave her a smile
Sir, I believe I know just the thing. I'll be right back with your drink.
Might I add that you have on a beatiful dress Madam. He complemented her
She quietly chuckled as she left to bring the drink. This might not be so bad after all...

"So why are you going?" asked a soft voice from the door.
Corran turned around to see his "date" to the ball at the door. He smiled. Looking at the very beautiful woman standing there. "Date" he thought to himself. He hadn't been on a date in a very long time, since he joined the Empire back in the day, and even though his mercenary years, as well as the time spent in the Imperial Republic. His dates name was Lynn. He knew her from when he was growing up on Corellia. They had never had a serious relationship, but both of them had liked each other. He went away to join the military and lost contact with Lynn, but during the Outer Rim Wars he had travled to Corellia and ran into her there. Thoughout the war he was able to stay in contact, and on his return to Coruscant, he picked her up.
"Hey, you OK?" Lynn asked.
"Yea, sorry. I was just thinking." He said.
"About us no doubt." she said with a grin.
"Wow, I guess you are smart for a blonde." Corran said with a laugh.
Lynn glared at him and retorted, "Your just jelous because I'm prettier then you."
Corran just started to laugh, and said "Your damn right."
Both looked at each other and laughed. That had always been a joke between the two of them.
Then Lynn said, "Are you ready yet, because we are going to be late?"
"Yes, I'm ready, and no we are not going to be late, because I'm driving." He said the last part with a grin on his face.

Corran and Lynn got the the ball on time and entered in. Looking for people to introduce Lynn to, he spotted Jacen Fel his Wing CO. They walked over to where Jacen was sitting. "Hey Lt. Fel, I would like you to meet Lynn."

Once they had all entered the Senate Hall, Revan felt Layha release hold of his arm. In that moment, one of the numerous attendants approached and asked to take his overcoat. Revan nodded politely and shrugged it off as the man collected it from behind his back. "Thank you." Taking a moment to adjust his suit coat, Revan's vibrant green eyes took in the scene around him. He noted a numbers of eyes falling on the Empress before shifting slowly to himself. He managed to simply keep smiling as a number of people came forward to greet the Empress before funneling over to greet him. *Yeah well, you didn't like my idea so...suck it up champ.* Revan managed to smirk slightly at Layha before winking playfully.

He had seen pictures in holopics, holozines, and holonet; but as the proverbial saying goes "nothing compares as the real thing."
"I can't believe Lts like myself and Fel would be invited. The Commander well.....I can see that..."He paused in his thoughts as he said hello to some big wigs passing by then resumed"...but Lt's. That is usually unheard of. "
He looked back to Fel from his corner and saw that he was suprisingly enough still engaged in conversation. Lt. Vega Picked up his goblet delicately, swirled the drink around, then took another sip.

Before Revan could excuse himself from Layha's company, he was caught in the midst of a slightly awkward family conversation. Well...awkward for him, at least. Mikael addressed Revan with a slight air of familiarity, but he certainly did not consider himself to be on such terms with the man. Officially, he was a Prince and as such a foreign dignitary. Likewise the only real interaction they'd ever had was during the issues with that brat Alora. Managing a polite smile, Revan nodded his head slightly to Mikael. "Prince Solo." Shifting his gaze to Jade, Revan allowed the charming government leader within him to flow through before shifting his gaze back to Mikael. "A pleasure to see you both." Briefly, Revan projected an image into Layha's subconscious.

As Revan approached, the men bowed respectfully to Revan which he dismissed with a wave of his hand. "Please, gentlemen. You can dispense with the pleasantries for now. It'll be a very long evening otherwise. I'm sure you know why I came over here then?"
The eldest of the three men smirked slightly and nodded his head. "Indeed, Your Excellency. So tell us - have you managed to rectify your financial issue?"
Revan smiled although he had a severe desire to kick the man's teeth in. "I'd hardly consider it a 'problem'. It's not as if I am pressed for funding."
"Ah yes but abusive shells like that can cause an awful lot of trouble. What...did you think the slush funds from all of those illegal arms proceeds would simply have been...ignored once you were no longer in a position to keep track?"
Revan could not help but laugh slightly as he stepped in closer and lowered his voice. "Now...you listen to me, and you listen closely. If you for one minute think that this is over or you have won something, I suggest you think again. Particularly if you value the lives of your wives, children, friends, or the integrity of your name across this system. Do not allow the fact that I have not ripped out your intestines give you a false sense of security." Taking a step back, Revan nodded his head with a smile. "Gentlemen, a pleasure as always...do carry on." As soon as he turned away from the group, his expression dropped to that of mild annoyance and anger rippled through the force around him. In his wake, Revan Centurion left a number of concerned individuals. Far too many thought that Revan was constrained in action by his position or beliefs in life. They could not be farther from the truth...he did what was necessary at any given time.

This is one of the reasons why I hate these type of social functions...Vega thought as he glanced around the room waiting for a refill.
