Jayden loved Naboo, but he always felt himself wanting more. Even for his very young age, he found himself constantly wanting to travel…to be free. Why did he have to be a Prince anyways? Royalty certainly wasn’t what the holofilms made it out to be. Everyday he was constantly studying and doing all manner of boring work. Evaluating tax codes, reading boring political reports, making public ‘appearances’. Heck he didn’t even understand half of the things he did – though he was rapidly learning more and more each day. Why was it that the Sovereign of Naboo was able to traverse the galaxy at his pleasure? Well…I know that’s not really what he’s doing… Jayden acknowledged the work that his father did, but he could not help but feel a bit…annoyed with the concept. It hadn’t been a long time since he’d been forced to live alone on Naboo with Selina, but he just wasn’t happy learning to be some government leader.
I wonder if daddy hates it this much…
Inside the Royal Theed Palace, Lady Selina Vadcasta, Regent of Naboo, had just received an urgent message from someone she’d not heard from in quite some time. Taryn Dassow, formerly a member of the Royal Security Force, had sent her rather cryptic instructions regarding a press release she’d been asked to make to the people of Naboo. From the sound of things, Revan was not planning on returning to Naboo to lead his people directly anytime soon. That, however, wasn’t the surprising part. Revan always was a firm believer in the fact that the best monarch was one that exercised their power not at all. It had something to do with…corrupting influences or something equally bogus in her mind. Ninety-nine point nine percent of the time, she didn’t understand what Revan was about. How could someone so capable of compassion and love practically abandon their only child? Of course, the other side of Revan’s personality was that his anger could swell to astronomical proportions.
Selina attempted to reach out to feel Revan’s presence, but she couldn’t – as usual. Sighing softly to herself she looked up to one of the guards near the door. ”Find Jayden please – tell him it’s about his father.” The guard merely nodded his head. Selina had grown greatly attached to Revan’s son, and she often thought of him as her own. In truth she knew it was largely wishful thinking and perhaps a bit of jealousy. Why he remains so devoted to that witch is completely beyond me… It was certainly point which she had learned the hard way…not to bring up in Revan or Jayden’s presence. The young prince knew hardly anything of his mother, but Selina could tell they shared some type of bond that would not soon be severed.

”Your Highness, Lady Vadcasta respectfully requests your presence in her office.”
Jayden turned to look at the RSF officer that had managed to locate him. Sighing slightly, he came to his feet. ”Okay.” Jayden liked Selina well enough, but she seemed so different these days. She seemed so much more recluse and somber. Yet another reason why government service stinks, I bet. For all of his subtle insights, Jayden had not grasped the concept of extreme longing. He was mostly independent, like his father. Separation from loved ones was simply a sacrifice that those who strived to make the galaxy better accepted with little to no protest. Quietly, Jayden accompanied the officer back to the Royal Theed Palace.
Selina was…wary. Why would Revan want to do something like this…and why now of all times? Just doesn’t seem like…’him’… The thought brought a brief frown to Selina’s face as she realized that Revan hadn’t ever actually opened up to her about much of anything. At best, he’d allowed her to accompany him on a few missions; almost all of which she had been left completely in the dark. Then again…it couldn’t be all bad, at least he was taking Jayden with him this time around. But why…

Back on Coruscant, Revan had been at his penthouse for a matter of minutes. Having dispatched his earlier message to Selina during the trip from the Palace, he’d had time to give his intentions another serious look. Opening a secure link to the palace on Naboo, Revan waited for the link request to be accepted. Sure – it would be very possible to trace the source of the connection and perhaps even listen in, assuming the slicer was skilled enough. Revan did not care, however. There was little anybody could really do about it, and he certainly was not breaking any laws. Once the link was accepted, Revan smiled thinly and spoke with an even voice.
”Selina, Jayden – it is good to see you are both well. I know it’s been some time since I’ve been in contact, but I’ll have plenty of time to explain later. High Prince Stratus has returned to the Imperial Republic. As such, I’ve tendered my resignation.” Revan paused briefly to look at the chronograph on the table. ”I expect to be departing Coruscant somewhat shortly, but I need both of you to do something for me first. Selina…I’m sorry but you’ll have to stay behind this time. I suspect that my hiatus from Naboo will not likely end very soon, and I trust your leadership abilities above that of all others. I also need you to send Jayden to Kuat with the requisite amount of security, of course. Ensure that the RSF Commander provides for a competent crew to pilot the Legatus to a destination which I will send you later. Jayden – you are to make your way to Hapes onboard the Royal Cruiser upon departing Kuat. I will ensure that your sister Phoenix is expecting you… Understand something son – you are little more than pond scum among the lesser half of your heritage… Don’t allow them to treat you as such – being male does not make you week. You’re as strong as any person I’ve ever met on Hapes. Besides, I suspect they will show respect to the son of the Queen Mother.”
Revan could see the partial shock in Selina’s eyes, but Jayden didn’t seem to care much. ”Yes…much has changed in a very short time. Ensure the crew piloting my vessel returns it to me on Coruscant. I will join you on Hapes eventually Jayden, but I need to check on a few things first. Be safe. Selina – thank you for your constant loyalty and friendship, it means more to me than you know.” With that, Revan terminated the connection. Pulling out his datapad, he sent very specific instructions back to the Naboo RSF. The information wasn’t secure, but he’d be highly impressed if anybody managed to actually break the coding of the message.

While Selina wasn’t happy about what Revan had just said, she managed to smile slightly at his last statement. Ordinarily she would wonder if the words held any truth. She knew Revan for the deceptively clever man that he was, but she sensed his words held no false pretense this time. With a light sigh, she turned to Jayden and nodded. ”Go and prepare your things…we shall do as the Lord Protector asks.”
Jayden nodded his head before hugging Selina tightly. ”We’ll see you again! Soon!”
Selina hugged Jayden back, allowing a single tear to roll down her cheek. Hopefully…

Once the information had been sent, Revan quickly made another secure connection with the Fountain Palace. Leaning back comfortably into the cushions of his sofa, Revan waited for the Hapan Palace to accept the transmission request. He hoped that he had dialed in the right frequency – not that it mattered. He knew his request would be ‘screened’ by someone before it ever even reached Phoenix. Revan did not, as of yet, have access to a direct connection.

Phoenix was having her morning meal when a messenger arrived. "High Princess, a transmission has come from Coruscant. It was marked with a degree of urgency." Phoenix nodded and motioned for the messenger to approach. "Who sent it?" The messenger bowed, "It was a Lord Centurion my Princess." Phoenix eyes widen. "Centurion? Well this is a first. Come read it to me." The messenger hesitated for a moment before opening the document. Phoenix noticed the hesitation. "Is there something wrong? There is no need to be afraid. Read it to me." The messenger nodded, then quickly opened the small cube, "My Princess it is requesting your finger print." Phoenix sighed. "Centurion..." she took the cube from the messenger and swiped her index finger across the top of the cube. Immediately holo graphic images appeared before her giving her dates, times and names. "Well ladies and gentlemen, looks like we are going to be having a Royal guest among us." Phoenix stood and clapped her hands twice, servants appeared from a side door. "I want the room in the east wing prepped and ready for our guest." she turned back to the messenger. "Send a transmission back to the Coruscant address. Let Lord Centurion know we have recieved his transmission and we are awaiting our guest. That is all; you are all dismissed."

Revan glanced to his communicator as it began beeping with an incoming message. Pressing the receive button, he listened to the short reply from someone he could not readily identify. At least his message had been received in a timely manner. Then again, Revan had not exactly doubted that Phoenix would be accommodating of her younger brother. Putting the communicator aside, Revan clicked on the holonet. He was hoping to see what the media was saying about the sudden lock down of traffic, but he vaguely recalled instituting some statute that forced the media to put a positive spin on things regardless of how it affected the daily lives of others. Yet one more thing he'd done to contribute to the degradation of freedom. Naturally - he'd only done it to keep the public from fretting over the many sudden changes that were occuring within the government. In these types of situations...it was more or less always lose/lose. Citizens will never understand the things that the government does in their interests.
At that moment, the normal programming was interrupted. The all too familiar scene of the Palace Press room filled the screen. Revan could not help but smirk at the display - everyone of note was there. Well, all except for one anyways. "Life is much more pleasant...manipulating all sides from the shadows." It was what Revan had been doing nearly all his life, and he was certainly a very capable practitioner of the art by now.
