The question of who governs the officers of the military and makes sure they don't abuse their position has been raised.

Already technically IRSB should have authority over it but it was never formerly decided. I personally believe it should be under IRSB. The military doesn't need another major power as far as that goes - but they do need some inter-police so maybe a division of the IRSB dedicated to that?

Post opinions and discuss before voting please unless absolutely certain but please post opinions.

IRSB = Imperial Republic Security Bureau (Internal Security/police/FBI, etc.)

I also believe a military police should be created, even if the blasted thing wont let me vote :P . And since the IRSB does have military rankings and does control the police and internal security/defense, they should be in control of the Military Police. Allowing the Ministry of Defense to concern themselves with the external threats.

I would have to say that the Military Police should go under, well..the Ministry of Defense. It is not the matter of responsibility, but structure. Military police have mostly been under the administration of the Military, I firmly believe that it should remain that way.

Even as a matter of structure, the Ministry of Defense deals with soldiers, the IRSB deals with law enforcement, what a military police officer would be doing.

Agreed..But even so, an officer of the Military Police would/should be assigned on duty pertaining to matters of soldiers/officers who break standard and upper codes of Military law. Hence serving the actual purpose of the Military Police, law enforcement of any and all military personnel.

And then there is the concern of the military having too much power...or abusing it...or the police taking bribes or doing plundering of their own...it doesn't help things at all...can you see it - a military that already is a Ministry governed by itself (not under any superministry) - some High Councilors are assigned to watch over it to check up on it and look out for its best interests as a representative but they don't know everything - it has a large budget - a commander-in-chief that can do almost whatever it wants - and one single member of the royal family to try to supervise it other than the SR.

Adding another power too it just doesn't seem very....good idea

(OOC: No offense to Sarah - but this is a 3rd-view of it not thinking of her as a person but as in general)

I have a question. If you want to make military police, using military officers, why is there a question of where/who has the power? Military falls under Ministry of Defense.

I personally think we need to make the IRSB more active in what's going on, especially the Red Scenario. Military police wouldn't be needed if the IRSB becomes more active.

If the military needs police, then they aren't diciplined enough. I say up the programs and expectations, so only the elite and strong and loyal men/women make it. No cops needed.

The reason for MP's is because the Military is not policed at all. Civil police have no authority over military officers reguardless of what they do - they cannot restrain them.

However, in this proposal, the IRSB Military Police Division CAN.

Hello!!! dont we have a JAG of some sorts? that is what we should be discussing in no empire (AKA country) has there ever been a military police just a JAG system (for lawyer brats who wanted military benefits).

So I voted no on the police as we should be talking about having a JAG!

We have no judicial system whatsoever - that is a topic in the senate to be worked on - we need some kind of system developed.

It will probably be under COMPNOR whatever it is.

We seem pretty split on the issue here...that can't be good - if it remains this way it will be taken to the high council - then I will probably have to make a decision of my own (unless of course someone else with that power does first and pending(? is that the word?) I don't overrule it or disagree with what is decided.)

Yeah, that's the word. I think, Ryan, you should have the Ministers of the Ministires and the Royal Family members in charge of overseeing the ministry discuss it.
