The Prince's Pride was nearly destroyed at the Battle for Coruscant about a year ago, while engaged in heavy combat in defense of Coruscant against three Super-class Star Destroyers, one welding the power of a Superlaser. In a heroic act, by the order of Admiral Firecam, acting as Throne Regent and Battle Commander, the Highwind and the Avenger moved into position to block enemy salvo from further damaging the Prince's Pride and preventing the total destruction of the flagship. As a result of this heroic act, the Avenger itself was destroyed, the Highwind and Prince's Pride were heavily damaged. After a few months of major repairs, the Prince's Pride was finally able to hoble crippled over to the Kuat Drive Yards for more major repairs, overhaul, and rebuilding. The Highwind was also recieving overhaul and repairs and was almost finished. It was a month ago that the High Prince had presented the Minister of Defense with a replacement flagship, a new and improved vessel of a new design, an Overmind-class Battleship, the Avenging Phoenix.

Admiral Jon Tinkel, Executive Officer of the Royal Fleet, directly supervised the repairs of the Prince's Pride and of many of the ships of the Royal Fleet.

Captain Halcyon had received classified orders to go to the Kuat Drive Yards on a special mission. He report to the XO, Admiral Jon Tinkel.

"Good Morning, Sir. Captain Halcyon reporting as ordered." Said the Captain with a crisp salute.

"Ahh, Captain glad you made it. You will have to excuse me I have a meeting to get to, but you office is just down the hall, and the key to you room is in there. Go ahead and get squared away and I will call you back later."

"Aye Sir." Said the Captain. With an about face he left the Admiral's office and when down to his.

A year

it was a horrible feeling...

never thought that mission was going to take so long..

the galaxy has changed, the empire received a blow at the heart of the galaxy and people are starting to doubt the Prince.. how can something that seemed invincible as the empire get injured as the way it did?

I dont have answers to those questions.. but, i dont have to answer them.. all i have to do is to patch the empire with one enemy at a time

Jacen suddenly open his eyes and noticed he was still in his temporary room.. getting up his bed he felt kind of dissapointed since he remember he had to report to Captain Halcyon

Jenna sighed as she looked around the hangar. Even with all the bustle of activity, and the fresh wing of fighters and bombers, she could still see the scars from the battle that had nearly put a fiery end to the Prince's Pride .

She sighed again as she popped her canopy and stood, twisting to mount the ladder that a tech had run up against her fighter. She had been ordered out here to take command of a new fighter squadron, Phoenix Squadron to be precise. And here she was, about to take command of what would be her third squadron. The only other person to still be with her from both of her previous squadrons was her XO, Lieutenant Tegan Winnry.

A glance aft of her fighters' port stabilizer told her that her XO had also landed safely, and was similarly dismounting from her fighter. With a nod to her, Jenna dropped the last few feet to the deck. She could tell that the A-Grav was set to something slightly less than one gravity, as was standard for most hangar decks. Lower gravity meant that pilots could reach their craft more quickly, and in a scramble situation, speed was everything.

As she reached up to remove her helmet, a young Petty Officer approached her and saluted.

"Captain Halcyon's compliments, Ma'am. He wishes to see you ASAP."

"Thank you, Petty Officer." Jenna said as she returned the salute. "Let me get my gear stowed and then I'll be up to meet with the Captain." She added as she retrieved her gear from the small storage compartment in her fighter.

"Aye, Ma'am. If you'll follow me, I'll show you and your XO to your quarters."

With a slight hand gesture, Jenna bade him lead the way.

******************

"Here are your quarters, Ma'am." The PO said with a gesture to his right. "Your XO's quarters are right next door. The rest of Phoenix is quartered across the hall. Captain Halcyon's Ready Room is on deck two."

"Thank you, PO. Dismissed." Jenna replied, returning the young man's salute. "Tegan," She added, once the Petty Officer had departed. "Once you get your things unpacked, get with the squadron. Let them get to know you a bit, but get a good reading on how good they really are."

"You got it, Boss." The other woman said, already moving down the passageway towards her own quarters.

Jenna nodded, and entered her own. As befitted her rank, she was assigned a small two room suite just across from her squadron. With a deft motion, she tossed her gear bag just so on her bed. She privacy-sealed the door behind her and headed towards the small 'fresher station, peeling off her flight suit as she went.

A few minutes later, and dressed in duty blues, rather than a flight suit, she left her quarters and caught a turbolift up to deck two.

******************

Arriving quickly at the Captains' Ready Room, she entered once the Captain had acknowledged her presence.

"You wanted to see me, Sir?"

Capt. Halcyon was aranging things around in his office when the door buzzed. He looked over at the screen and saw Lt. Deirdre standing outside. He sat down at his desk. "Come in."

Lt. Deirdre walked in an gave the proper greating of the day with a salute.

"Please Lieutenant, have a seat."

She sat down in on of the chairs across from the Captain.

"Glad your hear. There are a few things I want to go over with you. First, after you get settled in, I want to meet with your entire crew, just as a quick breifing on what we are doing and get to know them. I like to know everyone that works under me. Second, if there are any problems with anything, machines or staff members I want to know about it. I'm not going to be watching your work like a hawk, I just want to know if any problems arise so we can fix them imediatly. And the last this make sure you and your crew are enjoying yoursleves. I don't need my crew beating themsleves up over work. That's all I have for now. there is going to be a detachment formation at 0800 tomorrow morning, that will include your crew as well as the rest of the pilots. Unless you have any questions, your dismissed."

"Dismissed." Captain Halcyon said.

Jenna braced to attention with a short "Aye, Sir." and spun deftly on her heel, exiting the ready room.

On her way out, she passed by a young Lieutenant, who stood up as the Captain's Yeoman said "The Captain will see you now, Sir."

************

A quick turbolift ride later, Jenna was back on the hangar level, just outside her Squadron's briefing room. She paused for a second, tugging on the bottom of her tunic straight again. Then, with determined strides, she crossed over to the door and entered the Squadron's briefing room. As she entered, she heard her XO call out "Ten Hut."

As soon as everyone stood, she nodded to her Exec, before turning to face her new command. "As you were."

With the slight mutterings that usually accompanied pilots just prior to briefings, everyone settled back into their chairs, save for Jenna, who stood patiently at the front of the room, by a holo-projector.

"Good Afternoon, everyone." Jenna began. "I'm Lieutenant Jenna Deirdre, your new Commanding Officer. For those of you who don't already know, Phoenix Squadron is my third command. Before you ask what happened to my previous squadrons, let me tell you. My first command, Wolf Squadron, was part of the First Tactical Fighter Wing, attached to the MoD fleet, and specifically the Avenger. We got reorganized a while after the Togorian Incident, and most of my pilots became either Squadron Execs, or CO's. Lieutenant Winnry and myself were transferred to Ghostrider Squadron, also attached to the Avenger. Half of Ghostrider was onboard when the Avenger was destroyed. Most of the others were caught in the blastwave. After that, Lieutenant Winnry and myself were transferred to Phoenix Squadron.

"As you already know, our fighter of choice is the EID Falcon, for its greater manouverability in combat, and its role as a pursuit-intercept fighter. Unless anyone has any questions, I suggest you all get some sleep. We have a mission tomorrow. Squadron briefing is tomorrow at zero-seven-hundred. Launch time is zero-seven thirty. Dismissed."

With a final nod to her new command, Jenna strode out of the room and across the hall to her own quarters. Once again privacy-sealing her door, she slipped out of her uniform and into bed, following her own advice. After all, tomorrow was going to be a very busy day.

It was around 0600 Kuat time when the yards that were holding the Prince's Pride were rocked with explosions. The explosions were no where near the ship but it caused shock waves through the huge yards. In a moment's notice klaxons were blaring throughout the ship and engineering crews were beginning to secure their stations while those making spacewalks were lashing their RIGs to the ship as the yard moved from the blast.

There were crewmen scrambling to their stations within the massive vessel. They didn't know if it was an attack upon the ship or part of the worker's protests spilling over from planet up to the shipyards above them. The yard chief issued an immediate lock down of the yards and for all transports inbound to be turned away. The yard chief had been working on Kuat for most of his career and had been the head of the yards day to day operations for almost as long. "Prince's Pride, This is Issac Kingsley, on duty Yard Chief. Requesting your assistance to lock down space around the yards."

Jenna had just gotten dressed and was about to head to the galley to grab some chow when the alarm klaxons started baying, accompanied by annunciator lights, which painted the long grey passages with bright crimson flashes. Years of training kicked in, and she grabbed her helmet and made a mad dash for the hangar bays. Predictably, the hangar techs already had her craft prepped and ready to go.

As the rest of the pilots made a mad dash for their craft, Jenna skidded to a halt next to a man wearing captain's bars and waving to the pilots to hustle it.

"ADO," Jenna said as she braced to attention. "What's flying?"

"Everything. We have several explosions of unknown causes, and we're taking no chances. Fighters will fly CAP and heavy intercept, while the bombers will be on-call to take out anything heavy. Get going!"

Without pausing to salute, Jenna raced to her craft, pulling her helmet on as she went. Within seconds, she was strapped in and her canopy sealed. A few seconds later, she was out in open space, along with thirty-four of the Pride's thirty-six squadrons, each racing to their assigned zones. With practiced ease, Phoenix formed up on her six, and as a fluid unit, the squadron moved to take on whatever danger presented itself.

Capt. Halcyon was in his office getting ready for the day when the klaxons started to go off. He grabbed his coffee and headed for the battle control room. A young Lieutenant meet him at the door.

"Good moring Sir, If you come with me Ill take you to the Admiral."

The Captain and the Lieutentan walked over to were the Admrial was standing.

"Good morning Admrial, Whats going on?" asked Capt. Halcyon.

"Well Captain, we don't know for sure there was an explosion somewhere near the ship, but we don't have an exact location. We are now scrabbling all fighters and bombers. I want you to oversee that operation."

"Good to go Sir." Halcyon replied.

Capt. Halcyon made his was over to flight control.

"All squadrons report in." said Capt. Halcyon.

Issac felt the yards list as they moved from the force of the explosions."Prince's pride. Once again, this is Isaac Kingsley. We need your help out here.."

The space around the yards and the ship was floating with debris at the moment, the explosive radius seemed to be specifically targeted to the area where it looked like a stabilizer had once been attached. As the fighter's launched one of the main braces that attached to the stabilizer was spinning towards the Prince's pride at a good clip, the other debris was headed toward the ship or out to space. Whoever had done it knew exactly what they had been doing.

A young Ensign fully dressed in his Duty Uniform got to the hangar as scheduled. Finally, his personal starfighter, an Ancient XJ-Xwing painted in white with a purple line in its sides and the Imperial Republic Logo to his right side, was about to be evaluated in order to join the Prince´s Pride and Phoenix Squadron as a certified ship and able to be used in Military Operations.

For that, the young corellian Ensign managed to order superior weapons and shields, military grade equiptment and secured communiation equipment. Then carefully he installed every single part on his own and tested every single device to make sure that his ship could meet the standards set by the Imperial Republic.

Vexander got closer to the ship and noticed a few technicians with datapads watching, touching, analysing every single centimeter on his ship and entering the information in their datapads. The Ensign slowly got closer to the ship. "Hello gentleman, I think that you will all find that the ship meets the necessary requierements?" The young man said with a lot of pride in his tone.

One of the technicians that seemed to be the one in charge looked at him and reluctanly he nodded. "The ship seems to meet all the necessary requirements to enter service for the Imperial Republic Ensign Smith, I will report this to your superior, however I need to say that this ship should be in a Museum rather than flying in a fighter squadron, especially the Phoenix Squadron"

Vex began to walk towards his chambers completely satisfied with his work and ignoring the technicians comment, he really did not cared for what they had to say about the ship, it would fly to any place where it was needed, it would fly and it would succeed in its mission.

----------------------

The explotions at the Kuat Yards woke up Vexander from his quarters at the Prince's Pride. Suddenly all pilots were being called to their ships to scramble as fast as possible. The young Corellian quickly suit up in his pilot suit and took his helmet with the Imperial Republic insignia on top of it, then he left the room in a dash.

It was Ensing Smith´s first assigment with the Phoenix Squadron, actually it was his first assignment with the Imperial Republic Navy since he turned his back from his Freelance days. He was not nervous at all, actually he was more like anxious to get to his cockpit.

Within just a couple of minutes, the whole Squadron recieved a short briefing of the recent events and was ordered to intercept any hostile craft that was attacking the yards and to defend them from any other possible attack.

Vexander Smith quickly hopped in his starfighter, the ship was actually more than ready for take off, every system was green and ready to go. Within just seconds, the Vex was outside in space and in formation along with the rest of the Squad... his assignment was easy enough; however by the look of things, everything could get complicated, the attackers seemed organized. Vex decided to keep radio silence for the time being and waited for orders patiently...

((Fixed some grammar things))

Isaac growled and threw a manual near him against the wall, apparently the half crewed ship was refusing to communicate with them."To hell with them, get out engineers away from that ship and on the yards. I want crews working on getting these damn things stabilized quickly."

With that one of the other team leaders sent out the signal to all space borne engineers to leave the prince's pride and make sure the yards stayed within a proper orbit, ships were also launched from planet side to help tractor the yards back into their standard orbit until things could be repaired.

Meanwhile planet side there was a few people gathering as news came in that there was an attack upon the orbital yards that hadn't been claimed by anyone as of yet. The people were beginning to worry that perhaps the DCC or someone aligned with them had done this as a way to strike out at the Republic.

Radio silence was everything that could be heard in the Phoenix Squadron's secure channel. Vexander was used to this kind of radio silence when flying in his starfighter, but basically because he was a freelance and a loner; however, this time was different, he was a member of the Squadron, he was supposed to talk with them, communicate and share strategies.

With a quick hand movement, the Ensign began to change between the secure channels that were being used at the moment by Prince´s Pride and the yards along with the several fighter squadrons. For a moment everything seemed odd, in this kind of emergency radio silence was not common.

Suddenly, Vex managed to get half of a message that was being sent by the yards to the Prince´s Pride. "...again, this is Isaac Kingsley. We need your help out here.."After that only radio silence could be heard.

A small shiver ran all the way from his head to his fingertips, a feeling that he usually had when he was about to face some action, when adrenaline began to fill his body, when battle was near.

Quickly, the young Ensign changed once again to the Phoenix Squadron´s secure channel "Lead, this is Phoenix Nine. The yards are requesting assistance to the Prince´s Pride. Awaiting further orders."

The engineers who were leaving the prince's pride to help with the yards were like fireflies against the inky blackness of space as they swarmed upon the yards as there was radio chatter galore between them and the main engineering towers, An assortment of haulers and wreckers were leaving the yard's hangers so they could move into position. The debris that was spinning out of control now was extremely close to the Prince's pride, one of the larger pieces of girder sliced through through part of the starboard leaving a good sized gash and several bodies began to float out into space with looks of horror upon their faces.

Meanwhile the debris field near Phoenix squadron continued to spiral and move making it difficult for them to navigate their patrol route, the sensors didn't show any ships leaving Kuat towards deepspace at the moment but then it would be hard to tell with the activity near the yards. A few of the fighters would have to make difficult manuvers to avoid smashing into the tight knit debris, while others actually resorted to their weapons to deal with the debris.

Things began to get complicated in the patrol route that Phoenix Squadron was following. The equipment in the ships were practically jammed due to the amount of activity around the yards and the debris that were all over the place, so no enemy activity could be monitored at this point until they cleared all the debris.

At that moment, seeing the situation that he was facing, he had two options: to break formation, ignore orders and to assist the yards in any request they might have or; to stay in formation, clear the debris field and intercept any hostile craft. Now it was just a matter to evaluate the situation, trust his instincts and visual contact and choose...

The quick evaluation led him to believe that breaking formation was not really advantageous, especially due to the fact that he was not really aware of the situation around the yards completely, however the eagerness to assist the yards in this moment of needed was still there...

Reluctantly, the Ensign stayed in course and began to perform heavy maneuvers to avoid the debris that were above the whole squad, however, as Vex flew closer and closer, the maneuvers were not that affective due to the amount and size of the debris; a big piece of metal came closer and scratched the left side of the canopy, almost touching the glass.

With a quick hand movement, Vexander armed the lasers of his X-Wing and began to shoot at the bigger chunks of metal in an attempt to clear the way for him and his wing mates, watching closely for the crafts in front of him and moving forward until the debris field was cleared.
