[Aurielle Stratus]

(Before Dene is accused of treason)

Aurielle's skin was coated in a thin layer of perspiration already before they began, and she wished she had removed the jacket. But there was no time now. Her blonde hair fanned out as she spun and thrust out with her lightsaber. It sizzled as it came into contact with Dene's blade. The pale blue and the silver blades made a wonderfully hypnotic sight as they parried with one another.

"I see," Auri grunted. Dene had just walked her through correcting her stance as they fought. He was still, after all, her teacher and mentor. Auri had switched her feet as he said, and was not made to step back as she blocked his attack. But she had to move again. Blocking more, learning to not die by the saber in combat was something she was not proficient in. Normally, she was empathic. today, she was sore. And grumpy.

Aurielle HATED combat lessons.

"Let's make a bet," she said, moving to deliver two blows to shake things up. Dene blocked them easy enough, but it didn't stop her from trying to throw him off. "If I win this one, you buy me ice cream tomorrow instead of practice. If you win, what do you want?"

"Hm, Ice cream eh?" Dene enjoyed ice cream probably a little to much for his own good, but it would remain a secret from everyone, something so petty couldn't be worth anyones time. Dene noted the fatigue that Auri began to suffer from. "If you win." He chuckled while parrying off an attack and putting his hilt into her stomach, making it known to her she is dead. "If you win this one, ill give you your ice cream, but if I win. You have to practice twice as long." Dene smiled.

Fatigue never bothered Dene, he was a soldier from the get go and could outlast any Galactic Marine in an attention stance during an inspection. He grinned.

"I think ..." Auri began, spinning again and thrusting her blade on him once more with increased speed and vigor, "that the terms are agreeable. As long as we don't tell dad."

Auri broke her own Cardinal rule and used the Force to push Dene away and against the wall. she let her saber fall to the ground, and moved to pull off her jacket, throwing it from the battle area before calling her saber back to her hands. It was much easier to fight in a shirt with thin straps. It restricted movement less.

"And if you do, I will say it was your idea," she teased, waiting for him to attack once more. She also expected it to be a little worse, since she pushed him away.

Dene chuckled at Auri slightly. She was powerful but was still young in the force. Dene felt a small rush of feelings but denied him. "Now Princess, if your going to use the force on me, you have to get more focused if your going to do any harm." Dene grinned and parried her blade as he pushed his blade upon her.

Aurielle pushed back, but some things were an uneven match. While her stance was strong, her stature was much less than that of her battle mate. Thin beads of sweat began to show on her skin, the only sign she gave that this exercise was causing strain. But she would not complain too much. Secretly, any time spent with Dene was like a suspension from her pathetic circumstance. She could be just Auri. Not Princess Aurielle, not Senate Liason. But Auri, just Auri, with her Dene.

"My goal is not to harm, Master Dene. My goal is to prevent you from harming me," she spoke, being bluntly honest. Because it was a truth that when training, she would not learn if she were not being honest with her teacher and mentor. "In all things, a swift death may mean no answers. Were I trying to capture you instead of kill, what good would harming you do?"

She used the Force to give her block enough power to thrust him back, and she dropped low to the ground, swinging her leg in a wide arc as her hands pressed against the floor to steady herself as she aimed for the back of his knees with the intent to knock him over.

Dene could only smile at Auri's wisdom. "Indeed you may be right, but what if I was a Sith lord? I do not need a weapon to cause damage, taking my hands off would also be suitable, which brings harm." He winked teasing Auri. Dene was surprised at how fast the younger jedi learned, it was like watching himself when he was young, eager to learn but wise to question. He had also been proud of Auri and he could only feel more love for her.


"Lets rest and meditate, first we want to learn focus and patience, what makes a jedi is his or hers patience in a stressful situation, the ability to remain calm and focus on the situation at hand." Dene pointed toward the little pond and sat down next to it. His legs were crossed, you could feel a sense of peace within the war veteran. He smiled at Auri with his eyes closed.
