Consistantly updated signatures will be at http://images.imperi...ublic.org/sigs/. I know that most of you all have your signatures already configured and set up on a URL like this: http://www.cet.nau.e...238/IR/name.jpg or whatever. Please go to the http://images.imperi...ublic.org/sigs/ site, find out the correct URL to your image, and change the signature link, so they are hosted off of our own server, and the bandwidth will not come from my university and they get mad at me.

Okay, signature rule. If you insist on making your own, they must be exacty 468 x 151 pixels. Kaidlen - please fix yours if you can - its the only oddball one now

It will save me time if you edit your signature URLs for me.

For those of you who want to attempt to make your own, here's some info for you.
What I use is GIMP, which is available for many versions of UNIX, Mac OSX, and Windows. It can be obtained from www.gimp.org.
You can also use Jasc's Paint Shop Pro, which runs at about $100 USD, or Adobe Photoshop, which runs at about $600 USD.
1) Start by finding a suitable background dealing with space, star wars, an office, a warzone, back alleys, industrial, or just nice scenery. I found a lot of mine at www.renderosity.com
Then create a blank image that is 468 width by 151 height. This is a must.
Note, there are a lot of of graphic things at renderosity if you are not careful. Consider yourself warned. I am glad I have downloaded the huge collection of images I like to use, and don't have to visit that site anymore. They are stingy about copyright crap, but I use a portion of their message, and it is only posted on this site, which only members can access, and not used anywhere else or in public. Kaidlen and Layha have a copy of the CD that has all of my image collection for it. I am going to try and get one to OVERMIND before I leave.
2) Copy and paste a portion of the background you like, you generally don't have to use the entire image, just cut out what you want, and resize that, then paste as a background layer.
3) Time for a new layer, find an actor or design a picture of your character (find one online or make one yourself), cut out the head and upper body like the others, and outline the edges, so that you can cut it out of its background, and paste it as if your character was standing in the background you chose.
4) Create a text layer using a color that is in your signature and easy to read. Use your rank at the top, a bit smaller than your name, then your name as a seperate text layer. You may have to duplicate the text layers and change one of them to be black and drag it so it shadows behind the other layer. Create a seperate text layer for your title (if appropriate), and branch such as Imperial Republic Army/Navy, etc.
5) Make sure you save it as a PSD (for Photoshop) or XCF (for GIMP) so you can go back and edit it. Please submit a copy of the XCF or PSD to OVERMIND or Kaidlen for uploading on our server. ]
6) Save a copy as a JPG file, upload it to the gallery and copy the link to the image in your signature (edit your profile with the new URL).

Alternatives to traditional signatures:
For those of you who do not have the skills, time, or ability for signature designs to match the others, are permitted one other method, but you must use at least one of these methods (the one above or the one below).
Rank Image
(bolded) rank and name
Position
Department or other unit info
etc etc
Rank images can be found at http://imperialrepublic.org/ranks/ - IRSB personnel see the COMPNOR section on that page.
Here is an example of what your signature will look like when you EDIT it:
This is what it will be displayed like:

Corporal Danroth D'Illige
Military Police Officer
Imperial Republic Security Bureau

The title of this thread says to post photo links, and you'll make them fancy. Actually, the term is "we."
If we are too busy to do this ourselves, and would have no confidence in our abilities if we did have time, is the offer for help still open? Or are we being encouraged to do this ourselves?

Well hmmm, sorry to bother everyone but I need to be completely honest... I am just extremely bad at art stuff so I was wondering: is someone able to assist me with a proper signature?
Here is the Picture that I would like to place on it:
