We are in the process of searching out a new webhost. The operator of the Imperial Republic website, James Stratus, will be serving a mission for his church RL for two years starting July 12th, 2006. This means that he will be completely out of contact with the world wide web during this time. Our goal is for the site is to stay open and operatable for two years, which means finding a webhosting company and prepaying the amount webhosting would cost for two years up front. We have totaled that amount to be $167 USD. Currently the operator is covering this fee entirely by himself but it would help if any members of this site could contribute to the cause. If you can, please send your donation to him via paypal using the Send Money function to mrmander@yahoo.com. Specify the donation as for the IR hosting. The reason we are looking for hosting is so we will have a stable company hosting the website with backups and professional support, as we do not know of the stability of the dedicated server that is hosted by friends or how long it will be operational while the operator is away on his mission. Thank you for your support and patience with us. Please note that all donations are non-refundable.

Jim, Paypal does not work for me. Is there any other option?

Hm...I don't know. you can always mail me a check I guess, (if anyone feels inclined to do so my address is below). Otherwise I don't know of any other way, since I can't accept credit cards directly.

I can mail you the check. That is not a problem, but you would need to check if you can actually cash it, since it would be from a bank abroad. A money transfer results too expensive. I checked the price and it rates about US$100 for any amount between 1 and 10000 dollars.
However, I just thought of another way. I can buy a couple of books for you from Amazon, or a gift certificate.

Unfortunately, that normally would help but I don't need any books or anything. I asked my bank about the check and they said it takes about 45 days to cash, my bank charges a $7.50 fee, and that there are many other fees along the way, from your bank and many others in the 'process'. A wire transfer fee is quoted at $30, not $100, but that's still too much. Is there any way you can get paypal to work at all ? Do you know what the problem is or anything? I understand that you can do money through paypal with a credit card or you can mail paypal a check and it doesn't cost you anything (I had a friend do this from the netherlands to help pay for the swc-neworder.com's message board license.
There are some other 'paypal' type companies out there but I don't remember them and can't think of any other ways at the moment.
I do appreciate your willingness to donate though. If you can get paypal to work or anything else that's simple I of course always welcome contributins. (same goes for everyone)

The price of the money transfer was considering all ends of the transaction. I mean, what they will charge me here, the intermediary banks and the final bank. All-in goes around US$100.
I am imagining that something similar will apply with the check, so it makes it kind of expensive if you are taking about small amounts.
Last time I tried Paypal, it was an error with the credit card. It said it was not accepted. I can try again to see if it was solved. Send me a PM with the details of the transfer.

Hey OM,
Since I'm planning to donate funds towards this, I will be glad to cover you, and you can reimburse me with a gift certificate from amazon.com. That will save you the hassle of trying to figure out a way of doing it.

Okay. I need to get in a paycheck before we actually do this, but no reasons why we can't have it worked out in advance. I still have 4 days open this week in which I could actually score some hours.

And if you're feeling generous, you could always donate to the 'ETJ wants s'more money' fund.
